After School Physical Activity Program

After School Physical Activity Program

This program provides funding to schools and community-based organizations to build on existing programs or create new physical activities for all school-aged children and youth during the after-school time period, with a strong focus on engaging currently inactive or underactive youth.

Children and Youth Resiliency Program

This program supports community groups in delivering children and youth programming in the Northwest Territories (NWT) that focuses on healthy childhood development, physical literacy, resiliency, and mental health.

High Performance Athlete Grant

This program provides funding for high performance athletes from the Northwest Territories (NWT) to assist with the costs associated with training and competing in their chosen sport.

NGO Stabilization Fund

Recognizing that many NGOs deliver essential services that support Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) policy objectives, the NGO Stabilization Fund was established in 2009 to help stabilize or develop the capacity of crucial NGOs who deliver critical GNWT funded programs or services to Northwest Territories (NWT) residents, such as organizations dealing with homelessness, addictions services, and shelters for women and families.

Regional Youth Sports Events

This program provides funding to sport and recreation organizations and schools to organize and host regional youth sport events in the Northwest Territories (NWT)

The intent of the program is to strengthen local programming, support athletes and coaches in smaller communities, and to improve youth participation in physical activity.

Youth Contributions Program

The Youth Contribution Program provides funding for community governments or registered non-profit territorial, regional and community based organizations that are providing specific programs or services to youth.

The purpose is to support initiatives that promote positive lifestyles to improve the quality of life and well-being of youth in their communities.
