There are many ways to access funding for sport, recreation, and community programs across the Northwest Territories. Explore opportunities to support movement, growth, and connection in your community.

Government of the Northwest Territories

The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) supports strong, accountable, and healthy community governments. Through partnerships and funding, they help communities create safe, sustainable environments for residents across the NWT.

Aboriginal Sport Circle NWT

ASCNWT works to remove barriers so that all community members, volunteers, and youth can access sport and recreation. Their Community Development Program offers funding to build capacity, create sustainable programs, and support meaningful local projects.

KidSport NWT

KidSport provides grants of up to $300 per child each year to help cover sport registration fees for families facing financial barriers. In addition, the Community Equipment Program supports organizations with grants of $500 to $2,000 to purchase equipment that strengthens physical education and sport opportunities across the North.

Mackenzie Recreation Association

The MRA provides funding for regional and community recreation events and professional development opportunities. Its goal is to support quality recreation services, expand opportunities for people of all ages, and build community capacity.

NWT Recreation & Parks Association

The NWTRPA offers grants that promote water safety, active living, and community connection. Programs include Swim to Survive®, Water Smart®, and June Get Active, which help communities provide safe, fun, and free physical activity opportunities for residents.

Sport North

Sport North offers several programs to support athletes and students across the NWT, including the High Performance Athlete Grant, the Rising Star Program, and the Sport North Scholarship.
