About Us

Our Vision

Physical Literacy NWT exists to boost activity levels and strengthen community bonds for every resident of the Northwest Territories. We believe movement is a powerful tool for belonging and well-being.

Land Acknowledgment

We recognize the Northwest Territories as the shared and sacred lands of the Dene, Métis, Inuvialuit, and Nunavut Inuit. We honour the ongoing relationships Indigenous Peoples have with this land and their enduring contributions to community, culture, and physical well-being. Our work is grounded in respect for these traditions and a commitment to move forward together.

Our Mission

We champion physical literacy through respectful collaboration, inclusive education, and a people-first mindset that honours diverse cultures, experiences, and ways of knowing.

relationships in teams and communities

Spiritual:

Feeling connected to self, community, and the land

No one element outweighs another. Together, they create experiences that are inclusive, meaningful, and sustainable.

Our Approach

We partner with schools, community leaders, Elders, coaches, and youth across the North to build inclusive, culturally responsive, and fun programs. Our work centres on creating opportunities that encourage confidence, connection, and lifelong movement.

Partners

We’re thankful for the support of organizations that recognize that physical literacy is central to healthy childhood development. These organizations help us reach more communities, build capacity, and make movement a part of daily life. If your organization shares this vision, we welcome a conversation.
