Moving Into 2026 Together

As we move into 2026, Physical Literacy in the Northwest Territories continues to be about more than programs, frameworks, or definitions. It is about people, relationships, and the everyday moments where movement connects us to one another and to our communities.

Across the territory, Physical Literacy shows up in many forms. It lives in gyms, rinks, playgrounds, school hallways, on the land, and sometimes on the side of the road when people stop to help without being asked. It is not always structured or planned, but it is always rooted in care, confidence, and connection.

In the year ahead, Physical Literacy NWT will continue to bring people together across sectors, education, sport, recreation, health, justice, and community organizations. The strength of this work comes from collaboration, learning from one another, and recognizing that everyone has a role to play in supporting movement, especially for children and youth.

We remain committed to creating spaces where people feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to move in ways that make sense for them. That means valuing joy as much as skill, participation as much as performance, and inclusion as much as structure. Physical Literacy is not about doing things perfectly, it is about showing up, trying, adapting, and growing together.

As we look ahead, we are excited to continue our Community of Practice, share stories, learn from lived experiences, and strengthen the collective impact of this work across the Northwest Territories. The challenges are real, but so is the commitment of the people doing this work every day.

Thank you to everyone who continues to show up with curiosity, care, and openness. Together, we are building a culture of movement that reflects who we are in the North.
